The Round Dial Smartwatch, ASUS ZenWatch 3 Goes Official at €229

Wearables are the next big thing and companies are not in settling mode at all. At the ongoing IFA 2016, ASUS has unveiled their third generation smartwatch. For a first time, the company has implemented round dial on their smartwatch which looks stylish. Joining the likes of Huawei and Moto, ASUS ZenWatch 3 goes official today and is priced at €229.

IFA has been a ground where we have seen a lot of smartwatches from the past couple of years. Talking about ASUS ZenWatch 3, it is Android Wear powered wearable and looks completely different from its predecessor. That’s a big and much-needed shift as most of the watch wearers prefer round dial over square or rectangular ones. Matching with previously leaked pictures.

ZenWatch 3 – A Perfect SmartWatch from ASUS?

Talking about the build quality of the ZenWatch 3, it is made up of jewelry-grade 316L stainless steel. It comes with IP67 water resistant.

In terms of the design, the ZenWatch 3 is round in shape and has a rose gold ring around the circumference. There are three buttons. Two are of small size and middle crown buttons on the right that are slightly bigger but are functional as well. The topmost button is user customizable, allowing to perform a specific function set by the user.

The ZenWatch 3 will run on an Android Wear operating system with a lot of ASUS apps pre-installed. The smartwatch will come with 50 watch faces. These can be changed via the ZenWatch Manager app installed on the smartphone. There are dozens of customizable watch faces built into manager app and option to create their own by using the FaceDesigner application.

There is a Zenfit app for fitness tracking. It enables smartwatch to track steps and remind the user to stand and move after long durations of inactivity.

In terms of the hardware ZenWatch 3, the smartwatch will run on Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. This is the first watch with the new wearable-focused chip. As per the company, the smartwatch will provide two full days of battery life and company’s it’s own “HyperCharge” tech that will add 60% to the battery in just 15 minutes. There will be an add-on battery pack that can give you 40% longer battery life.

Pricing wise, the latest ZenWatch 3 comes in line with previous editions and priced at €229 (~Rs 17,604). It will be available in three colors – gunmetal, rose gold and silver. There isn’t any news on sales as of now.
