We have started seeing a new trend in India market where the big guys are getting belted badly by the Chinese manufacturer. They are too good in every corner! Money speaks louder here. We recently witnessed Vivo going one step ahead and launched Vivo V7+ with a whopping 24MP front facing camera to lure selfie lovers. But wait, is it really true? Or is it Vivo just making fool of their customers? Let’s find out!
Specifications That Doesn’t Matter!
Vivo is at least not bothered about adding high-end specifications on their devices and selling at cheaper cost. They are more or like taking Samsung and other biggies way by burning hell a lot of money on sales and marketing. Let’s keep that aside for some other time.
Talking about the specifications of the device, the Vivo V7+ comes with a 5.99-inch HD+ IPS Incell full-view display with 720×1440 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has 2.5D curved glass build. It is powered by a budget friendly Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC that has octa-core architecture.
In terms of the memory and storage, Vivo V7+ comes with a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable via MicroSD card. It features a 3300mAh battery and includes support for VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 and all other sensors.
Missing out on camera? How can I when I am talking about hugely hyped “Clear Shot. Clear Moments” and “Perfect Selfie”. This device packs a whopping 24MP front facing camera with some moonlight flash and 16MP rear camera with dual LED flash. Awesome right?
SoC and Camera – Myth that should be Busted!
You can see that I have intentionally highlighted a couple of things in specifications of Vivo V7+! The processor and its front facing camera. That what is a myth!
The Vivo V7+ is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. I was surprised how can a budget friendly SoC support 24MP camera and started to dig about the processor platform specs. Here comes the biggest lie Vivo had told and everybody just clapped for it!
According to Qualcomm’s press release on Snapdragon 450,
The Snapdragon 450 is the first in the 400-tier to support real-time Bokeh (Live Bokeh) effects. It is also designed to improve on previous generations by including support for enhanced dual camera at 13+13MP, or single camera support up to 21MP; hybrid autofocus; and 1080p video capture and playback at up to 60fps, enabling slow motion capture.
Did you notice something? Any device that utilizes Snapdragon 450 can pack a camera that is either UPTO 13MP dual camera setup or UPTO 21MP single camera!
Now tell me how in the world Vivo could fit in a 24MP camera that even the SoC can not handle?
Does Vivo V7+ Really has a 24MP camera?
Now that it is clear that Snapdragon 450 and a 24MP camera is really not possible, let’s see if we if really have a 24MP camera on Vivo V7+. With the help of few of my media friends, I tried to collect the specification of the device using some Android apps. Guess what?
All of them showed 19.7MP camera! Which is not even 20MP! Isn’t this the biggest lie Vivo has told to the world? Isn’t it Vivo trying to fool their customers?
Vivo is so crazily marketing this lie wide openly on every social media along with their brand ambassador.

I was really shocked to see this from a brand that is burning money like there is no tomorrow to grab the market (which is really working for them). But why fool their customers with rigged specs?
Do you have anything to say Vivo India?
